Why does my GM Vortec Spider not work?
Why does my GM Vortec Spider not work?
As you may know the early style Central Sequential Fuel Injection (CSFI) or Spider units tend to fail overtime. This is mainly due to the poppet valves becoming plugged with carbon deposits.
When did GM start using Vortec fuel injection?
GM 4.3, 5.0 and 5.7 Vortec Injector conversion. Vortec 4.3L 5.0L and 5.7L engines from 1996-2002 have been found to be very sensitive to fuel deposits in the fuel injectors. The Vortec Central Sequential Fuel Injection system utilizes a unique fuel injector for each cylinder.
How much is the Vortec Spider swap engine?
Only $280, and a fairly easy direct bolt-on product. If any issues arise I’ll post them up here. Thanks guys! Things to come at some point… Howdy there, I’m doing the same conversion to my truck, I have the spider all the way in, however I cant get the dang plenum to seat properly…
Where is the fuel injector in a Vortec?
The Vortec Central Sequential Fuel Injection system utilizes a unique fuel injector for each cylinder. The injector coil is located in the central ‘spider’ with a tube sending the injected fuel to a poppet nozzle in the port of each cylinder.
How does the GM Vortec Spider unit work?
Notice how the nozzle of the injector is recessed away from the intake valve. The plastic pintle tube acts as an insulator to the injector tip which decreases the amount of carbon that’s able to develop on the end of the injector. GM has engineered a new Spider unit and it was used on 2002-2007 Vortec motors.
