The SPOUT (SPark OUTput) connector is the little plug on the wires going into the TFI module on the distributor. This mode has no advance and operates at the basic timing setting of the distributor. It is this mode that lets the car run without the SPOUT connector in.

Will only start with Spout Connector out. Hello everyone I have a 88 Bronco with a 5.0. I am trying to trouble shoot why my truck only starts when the spout connector is out. I started haveing this issue a few weeks ago it wouldn’t happen every time just every now and then. Now it happens every time I try to start the truck.
Where is the electrical drain wire on a Bronco?
Locate the (bare) electrical drain wire. Wire end is toward the ICM connector, again, about 5″ (127mm) from the “Y” splice. Unravel wire from the top (ICM) end and down to the area where the bare wire makes contact with the three (3) wires mentioned above.
Where does the ICM connector start on a Bronco?
Unravel aluminum foil tape and electrical drain wire (Circuit 48.) from main bundle, exposing the junction or “Y” splice between the ICM tapeout and the PCM tapeout. Be careful with the foil wrap because it will be reused. NOTE: THE FOIL WRAP LENGTH WILL BE ABOUT 5″ (127mm) BEYOND THE “Y” BRANCH. THE END WILL BE TOWARD THE ICM CONNECTOR.
