Just an FYI for those looking to bypass the smog pump. You’ll need an 87.5″ belt. Make sure you route it the right way or you’ll pull your hair out trying different belts. Ok so I replaced my alternate r an my 3 v belts.

Instead of removing the smog pump and replacing it with a dummy pulley, I plan to get a shorter belt and bypass the pump all together. Question is, anyone done this? Have any problems? Why do I need to remove the smog pump?

Wrong on the mpg and power, a properly working air system doesnt hurt anything, to actually get more power and mileage all the emission crap has to come off, which wont work on efi systems because it utilizes the emissions crap, the only real power\\mileage boost is long headers and duals.
