Do you have to replace the insert oil filter first?
Do you have to replace the insert oil filter first?
You should always start with replacing the engine oil filter first if you have an insert oil filter at the top of the engine. The reason for this is that the oil filter cup is holding some oil, and when you are removing the oil filter, more old dirty oil will flow down into the oil pan.
Where is the best place to avoid a hydraulic filter?
There are two hydraulic filter locations that do more harm than good and can rapidly destroy the very components they were installed to protect. These filter locations which should be avoided are the pump inlet and drain lines from the housings of piston pumps and motors.
How can you tell when a hydraulic filter needs to be changed?
The only way to know when the oil needs to be changed is through oil analysis. A similar situation applies to hydraulic filters. If you change them based on schedule, you’re changing them either too early or too late.
Why are restricted intakes bad for hydraulic pumps?
Research has shown that a restricted intake can reduce the service life of a gear pump by 56 percent. And, it’s worse for vane and piston pumps because these designs are less able to withstand the vacuum-induced forces caused by a restricted intake. Hydraulic pumps are not designed to “suck”.
Do you need to Prim an OEM filter?
With an OEM size filter, priming it (at time of installation) is very beneficial, but not required. With a substantially oversized filter (like I use) priming the filter is a necessity.
Is it OK to put the wrong oil filter in your car?
As long as the specific part is applicated to your vehicle then it is fine. As Brian, mentioned there is a lot more to oil filters than diameter and height. The wrong filter (even if it is the same size) can starve an engine of oil or switch the filter over to bypass mode.
Why does my motor not start after a fuel filter change?
The motor wont start. The tech who swapped this filter did the best he knew how to do. We all make mistakes and unfortunately we learn from that mistake. I learned the hard way many years ago. I hope you found this video and solved your problem or learned and didnt do the same thing that I did when I was a green horn technician. Loading…
Which is better oversize or OEM oil filter?
They offer finer filtration AND more flow in OEM size filter, and even more flow in a large oversize filter. The higher flow and larger the filter, the more time it spends filtering, and the less time it spends in bypass mode. Oil pressure is unaffected (if you choose a filter that has same bypass pressure as OEM filter).
