Can a 2 amp fuse blow at motor startup?

Hi gerty, the machine has been running with that fuse until it started to blow it at motor startup. I have a second identical milling machine that has been running with the original 2 amp fuse since 1995. I checked the motor bearings and they are ok, I swapped motors and the “good motor” blows the fuse too. That´s how I discarded a motor issue.

What happens if one of the fuses blows off in a three phase?

So let’s assume you have a 3 phase panel that feeds single phase lighting loads and 3 phase motor loads. The panel won’t be balanced because lights can be turned on and off. The panel is fed by a three phase, fused disconnect. A fuse blows in the disconnect.

What causes a circuit breaker to blow a fuse?

Any faulty wiring or connected parts risk a power fault (surge), which trips a circuit (or blows a fuse). So, again, the problem is not that the circuit breaker (or fuse) didn’t do its job but rather that there was faulty equipment.

What happens when the fuse blows on a milling machine?

Basically, when I turn the machine on everything seems to be normal. It even has an autocheck to check the steppers and optoswitches. I tried the autocheck and everything is fine but when I start a job, as soon as the milling motor starts, the 2A “slow blow” fuse blows, turning everything off.

What causes a fuse to blow in a house?

Fuse panels haven’t been installed in homes for several decades; their technology lacks most of the safety features of modern circuit breakers. Any faulty wiring or connected parts risk a power fault (surge), which trips a circuit (or blows a fuse).

What happens when a fuse blows on an ignition switch?

Insert a new fuse into the holder and turn the key to the run position. Turn the key off and pull out the fuse to see if it blew. If the fuse blows. When you turn the key to the run position, an internal ignition switch contact sends current from the B terminal on the ignition switch to the A1 terminal to energize the blue wire.

How often do you get a blown fuse?

Most people probably have experienced a blown fuse at one time or another. Someone always knows what to do when this happens. If you’re a homeowner, that person probably is you. Blown fuses are a common occurrence.
