How long does a JD 4720 battery last?
The original battery lasted almost 10 years. Had to drill out the plate holes that secure the battery just a little bit to get the 2 bolts back in. My battery lasted seven years, replaced with a JD – didn’t want to mess with adapting the battery tray.
Is there a problem with the JD battery?
Haven’t seen any wear from a non JD battery in the radiator area. I thought the reason for using the JD battery was because it is a dry cell battery (TY26442) and would not emit battery gases that would corrode the radiators that are directly above it. The original JD battery in my 4066R has a vent hose connected to it that vents the gases below the tractor. I don’t think the aluminum radiator would hold up well to the sulfuric acid vapors.
