Why does my Silverado go from V8 to V4?
My 2012 Silverado has been having some issues with the AFM feature. When I am driving at highway speeds (55-60mph) the truck will move to V4 and stay there for a few minutes. While staying at the same speed it will shift back into V8, even if I’m on cruise.
Where does the vibration come from on a Chevy truck?
Hopefully your vibration can be pin pointed to the front or rear atleast. Sounds like the torque converter. I know the exact thing your talking about. My cousins lincoln did the exact same thing.

Over the past moth or so I’ve noticed what feels like I’m driving over “rumble strips” while coming to a stop. It also does it at a slow-roll, say around 15-20 mph. It does NOT do it when I put it in neutral and stop.

What makes a Silverado drop from 8 to 4?
My ’11 Silverado is seamless. The only way I can tell it’s switching from 8 to 4 or back is look at the display. Changes in road service and gusty winds will make it drop out. Touching the gas will also drop it out of V4. For me, I think mine drops out of V4 too easily, it never stays in it much. Doesn’t seem to do much good.

How does a V8 fuel management Valve work?
When operating in V8 mode, the active fuel management valve lifters function similar to the non-active fuel management valve lifters. The active fuel management oil manifold solenoids are in the closed position, with no pressurized oil directed to the valve lifters. The pushrod travels upward and downward to actuate the rocker arm and valve.
