What is a start enable relay?
What is a start enable relay?
The Start Enable Relay is wired into the Transmission Electronic Control Unit (TECU) on the coil side of the relay. If the HCM uses the standard engine Starter, the 12-volt Cranking Relay is energized supplying battery power to the Start Enable Relay main feed, which then powers the Starter Solenoid.
What to do if your Autoshift is not working?
Some faults will not allow the AutoShift to shift into other gears. You can try to reset the system by powering the system down for 5 minutes which may clear the fault long enough to get to a service facility.
How does Autoshift adapt to the changing conditions?
When first starting up and after changing loads, AutoShift needs to adapt to the changing conditions of the vehicle. If the transmission holds a gear while in “D”, simply pull the lever towards you and the shift will be completed. This may have to be done several times before the transmission learns.
Can a car shift according to your driving style?
Yes! The Engine Control Unit (ECU) monitors your driving habits. It records the driving style, usually by looking at the last 40 shift points and adjusts so the car shifts accordingly to your style. It does this by monitoring different sensors such as the throttle or the gas pedal input and more.
What happens when Autoshift is in ” D ” gear?
When AutoShift is downshifting in “D”it will not complete the shifts below a preset gear (normally 9th gear in an 18 speed transmission) and the vehicle will “coast down” until the driver gets back on the throttle.
Why does Autoshift not go into any gears?
When i have the truck off and turn key to start position and try to shift gears i can hear the transmission shifting successfully, however once the engine is running it will not shift gears. There are no service lights or error codes being displayed.
Why does my Smart Shift keep flashing F?
The flashing “F” without the usual presence of a fault code is related to a current or previous speed sensor failure. What usually happens is the sensor will crack and eventually break, normally logging a fault code 58. The magnet in the sensor comes out and lodges between two raised sections of the tone wheel.
Are there any problems with the Freightliner Smart Shift?
I have changed the wiring harness to the transmission, change the speed sensor, throttle control sensor, had a couple of wires replaced and the xy shifter, have been considering replacing it (xy shifter) again, cause I was told it might not have been good when it was put on, I’m just not wanting to spend another 1000 for it.
Why is my Smart Shift sensor not working?
The magnet in the sensor comes out and lodges between two raised sections of the tone wheel. A new sensor is fitted to rectify the fault and the magnet does not get removed off the tone wheel. This now affects the new sensors ability to give an accurate reading as it is affected by the magnet on the tone wheel.
