Can a John Deere 450g be worn out?
Start the engine, take off brake, and the warning light comes on. It has always gone off again in a few seconds. BTW, my dozer shows 2500 hours so should not be worn out. The PO told me to always park with the rear end a little higher and the pump will never loose prime. Thanks for all the info guys.
What kind of Dozer does John Deere have?
I have been around farming and tractors all my life, but bought my first dozer last week. It is a JD 450G, about a ’89 model, with Direct Drive. I used it for an hour Saturday, and for an hour today, pushing and burning brush.
How does the clutch work in a John Deere 450?
The clutch is used to select the transmission gear. The H-L-R transmission is hyd. controlled and is adjusted with the clutch as to speed of shift etc. Hyd. pressure to the H-L-R clutches is adjusted through a bung on the floorboard. If all this makes sense. That all pretty much sums up all of what I was wondering.
What kind of oil does a 450C use?
The oil I purchased at my local farm supply store meet both those and about 30 other specs. Ran about $40 per 5 gallon pail. This is also the same oil that will go in the hydraulics, finial drives and steering clutches. I used right at 35 gallons to replace all of this type of fluid in my 450c. Just a little tip I learned the hard way.
Where is the return line on a John Deere 450?
If your hydro is low it will not go. There is a return line that runs under the machine from the transmission on the right side toward the back that returns hyd oil to the font mounted filter and pump.

Where to change transmission fluid on a jd450c?
I think that changing the transmission fluid on the 450C is the same as it is on my 450 straight (w/HLR). If not, disregard this 1) There’s a 1 1/8″ drain plug at the bottom of the transmission. You will need a socket to reach it through the hole in the belly pan and probably a breaker bar to get it turning.

What kind of transmission did a John Deere 455d have?
Mine was a 1988 455D and it was full fluid drive on the low/hi- forward/reverser. If I remember right there was a neutral between 1st and 2nd. These linkages got worn quickly from rattling about you had to be careful to make sure you got the main tranny in gear and not between gears.
