Is there any water loss in a Cummins ISX?
Changed coolant filter, changed surge tank (old one was cracked, replaced with Dorman), coolant filter valve o-rings, new surge tank fill cap (genuine Paccar), put a hose from the pressure cap nipple to the frame so i can see any evidence of water loss- None so far.
Is there a leak in the ISX surge tank?
There is not an external leak anymore, it previously had a leak at the coolant filter, filter valve o-rings, and then the fill cap on the surge tank. Now it’s losing more coolant. There isn’t any white smoke. The EGR cooler is not original, but I don’t have any info on when that was changed.
Why does my ISX engine keep eating coolant?
2009-2010 ISX’s are known for bad EGR coolers. But they quietly eat your coolant by letting it go out the exhaust and gradually gets worse over two month’s time. It doesn’t push it out the overflow. I think it’s the gasket design. When total EGR cooler failure happens your cylinders will fill with coolant and the engine will hydrolock.
Why did I lose water from my expansion tank?
Could be cap, what Temp is the car reading, as leaking cap will drop pressure which will boil the coolant earlier than if cap working correctly. Looks like it was a mixture of me overfilling the expansion tank , and not having the cap on tight enough.

Is the ISX head gasket good for a truck?
The dealer where I bought it has replaced the coolant overflow bottle, and the complete turbo, and they have supposedly checked the egr cooler, and air compressor, and the head gasket, but they say they are all good. The truck does fine one day with no coolant loss, and then the next it will push coolant out twice in one day.
