What happens when I put the splitter in high range?

What happens when I put the splitter in high range?

When in the high range position, I can flip the splitter button with my thumb and another difinitive sounding clunk is heard. I assume this is normal. However as mentioned, this starts a grinding that does not cease until the truck is stopped, and the range selector is selected back to low range.

Why does the high side of the transmission not engage?

The high side will not engage. Initially it was still operating as a 8speed where I had to flip the splitter and the high/low to engage the high gears. I had it swapped in coming from a Eaton fuller 8LL. Same engine, Cummins L10 300. Is it a bad transmissions or bad install.

Why does my hi-lo transmission not shift high?

The Hi-Lo splitter has an air operated valve there that could be bad, so you may have to replace that first and try. I don’t think that valve is very expensive. I bought a truck a few years ago that would not shift into high range.

When does the splitter on my truck wont split?

Discussion in ‘ Trucks ‘ started by Copenhagen, Aug 25, 2007 . About twice a day, my splitter wont split from low range to high. Of course it usually happens when I am loaded going up a hill with traffic behind me. Being a newer driver, is this a common problem or does my truck have issues?
