What do you need to know about twin cam crankshafts?
What do you need to know about twin cam crankshafts?
Price includes crank labor and crank pin, connecting rod bearings, wrist pin bushings, and pinion shaft race. When adding big bore pistons, especially extremely big bore pistons like our Monster Big Bore Kits, the increase in reciprocal mass (rods and pistons) dictates balancing the rotational mass, the crankshaft.
How does a monster big bore crankshaft work?
Heavy duty Monster big bore pistons and Ultima H-Beam Rods increase in reciprocal mass of the engine and this dictates balancing of the rotational mass, the crankshaft. The crank is completely disassembled, trued with new Ultima H-Beam Rods are installed.
Do you have to torque your rod bolts?
Torqueing your rod bolts without pre-determining the required torque to achieve the correct rod bolt stretch is not recommended. However if this is the only tightening method available to you, DO NOT EXCEED THE TORQUE AMOUNT INDICATED FOR YOUR BOLTS. NOTE: Your Crowerods are totally rebuildable.
How to determine the torque of a connecting rod?
STEP 1: Your Crower connecting rods came with a connecting rod specification tag. Check the tag to find the rod bolt part number used to fasten your connecting rods. Rod bolt length listed here is the measurement from under the head to the end. STEP 2: Use the chart below to determine the recommended lubricant, rod bolt stretch and torque amounts.

What to look for when rebuilding a CJ3B engine?
“Check the block deck for flatness and a light skim cut if necessary, and the same for the head. They’re also going to install new cam bearings since the hot-tanking process eats the old ones and press in the new valve guides to the proper depth.
