Where is the RM stator kit on a Polaris Sportsman?

Are there any issues with the Polaris Sportsman?

But as with anything mechanical, there have been some issues that have come to the surface, and there was a run of Sportsman 600’s and 700’s from 2002 to mid-2004 that were plagued with electrical problems and failure of the ignition system was a matter of when, not if.

When did Polaris change the ignition on the Sportsman?

The AC powered ignition was the Achilles’ Heel of an otherwise stone reliable ATV. Eventually, in mid-2004, Polaris updated the ignition to a DC powered ignition which pretty much eliminated ignition failures. But that left a huge number of 2002 to early-2004 models that were doomed to fail, often at a very inopportune time.

What causes a Polaris Sportsman 500 to stall?

It is also possible that there is low battery voltage. The 2011 Scrambler 500 battery must be charged to 12.8 VDC. Additionally, there may be incorrect or water-filled fuel, which must be drained and replaced. Engine stalling may happen if a rider starts/stops without adequate warm-up.

Is the throttle set to low on a Polaris?

As far as the idle being set to low, that’s not a problem- as long as I touch the throttle and take up the small amount of freeplay (1/16″) it idles fine, before I ever move the throttle cable. I just don’t like the fact that when I stop I cannot take my thumb off the throttle or the bike dies.

Where is the safety switch on a Polaris?

They kill the engine when they touch as a safety feature to keep the throttle from becoming stuck wide open. Follow the throttle cable down about three inches out of the etc box and you will see a little bulge in the cable. That bulge is where you adjust it.

Why is my throttle cable stuck on my Polaris?

It’s a safety thing. If you are cruising along, try to stop, and the throttle cable is stuck, the contacts will connect when you let go of the thumb lever and kill the engine before you run wildly out of control and can’t stop. Oh, that makes sense then. I was like WTF?

Is the motor on my Polaris Sportsman still working?

Did an oil/filter change, had a little metal on the magnet, that happened at 8000mi, I sold the ATV w/15000mi. on and it’s still running. If you service the motors on your Polaris you’ll find that their the best part of the mach.. The clutches when they start to fail will do some strange things.
