Why are the brakes stuck on when reversing?
It’s a noticeable “clamping on” sensation and the car stops. If I continue to reverse by pressing the accelerator you can hear the breaks squeaking as they try and keep the car stationary. Only when you put the car in D and drive forwards do the brakes appear released. Has anyone else had this experience with the brakes?

The “Drum-in-Hat” parking brake is similar, but its NOT, service drum brakes. They are small, they do NOT Have an automatic self adjuster. They are also not designed to have the shoes ride on the drum, like service drum brakes.
Why is my parking brake not coming off?
BTW, when you remove the rear rotors, rust & corrosion can cause a ridge to form on the unswept area of the drum, this will keep the rotor from coming off because the ridge is hitting the shoes. So whoever removes the rear rotors, likely had to back off the shoes to get them to come off.
