Why is my Detroit 60 series running flat?
Here is my problem I have a 12.7 detroit 60 series and it seems like it just doesn’t have any power. The turbo whistle is very faint. I have a little bit of black smoke out of pipe when i accelerate onto the interstate. I had a brand new crate model put in 2008 and they didnt change the turbo. I believe this is the original turbo.
Why are the gauges on my Western Star not working?
(Gauges worked fine untill we sent the truck to get painted, only thing we know is they unhooked the batteries, pulled the doors off and pulled off the hood. they climbed around the engine bay to paint the top of the cab but all connections look to be good. I have heard that check valves can be an issue on the Detroit so I replaced the check valve behind the engine and also the one that is inline on the right side of the filter housing. This seemed to somewhat help but it has not really fixed the problem much if any. Anybody have any ideas?
