Is there a transmission fault in a Volvo loader?
New pins and bushes, new tilt and lifting seals etc. For the past six months its developed an intermittent transmission fault. I don’t know to much about the gearbox but its electronic, I think they call it “power shift”. When you move the gearstick forward or backwards (forward or reverse) sometimes it hesitates to engage.
Is the L70 loader a good loader?
She’s a great loader. I’ve also got a Volvo LM846 (had her since new in 1978). I’ve also just sold a Volvo 622. Granted the machines are old, but I’m Volvo all the way. Very rarely I have problems with them. I’ve had the L70 for about 3 years now. She’d been well looked after. New pins and bushes, new tilt and lifting seals etc.
What to do if your Volvo loader breaks?
I would suggest placing a meter or test light on the number 50 wire or smallest wire on the starter solenoid . When trying to start power should be seen there while turning the key. Very common the ground wire is broken under the starter as well. Trace from starter to the frame.

What to do if your steering wheel does not move?
If the steering wheel moves freely, but the cable’s motor end does not move, then look for a stripped gear at the helm. There will either be a bare spot in the rack or a stripped gear on the steering shaft. If there is a bare spot on the rack, you will need a new cable. If it is on the steering wheel shaft, replace the gear.
Where is the transmission on a Volvo loader?
Above the throttle pedal is an electric box. There’s a relay in there for the transmission. The problem has got worse lately. Once the gear lever is in forward it takes around 10 secs to move. It tends to do it more when it’s warm though.
