I have had the best luck priming them by taking the fuel return line loose at the back of the head then using the hand primer pump until there is a full stream of fuel out of the fitting and the air bubbles stop. Then reconnect the line and continue to pump the hand primer until its hard to pump.

It houses a check door,spring and a rectangular rubber gasket. Cleaned the mating faces up and applied thin line of gasket maker to the outer perimeter of original gasket. Allowed gasket maker to dry a bit.
