Why does my cat 3126 engine not shut off?
Why does my cat 3126 engine not shut off?
3126 engines don’t have a shutoff solenoid, it is all controled by the ECM. Most likely the speed sensors not sending signal, HEUI IAP valve, or even the HEUI pump itself. Longshot might be ECM. Unless you have an active code, the cruise flash codes won’t show anything.
What happens when you hit the brakes on a 2001 cat 3126B?
My 2001 3126B shuts down when I hit the brakes hard. It has done this at 35 MPH and at a coast in the shop. Feels like an electrical/electronic shutdown as it is instantaneous. Does not loose power it just shuts down. Starts right back up and runs fine but don’t give it a hard brake because it will shutdown.
How do you troubleshoot a cat engine in a truck?
Start your troubleshooting by grabbing the CAT engine book that came with it. Then use the cruise control switches in the truck to read the codes using the check engine light.
What kind of car is a cat 3126?
It is a Thomas/Freightliner with a CAT 3126. Purchased a 2000 HR Endeaver Mtr Home about 6 mo. ago. Has 38,000 mi. Runs great down the road. Problem: When started it starts fine, but when left idleing for 2 0r 3 min. it goes to lopeing. If I apply slight accelerator to raise RPMs 2-3 hundred, it smoothes out.

Can a cat 3126 go over 35 mph?
I have a Cat 3126 (2002 model ) in a Discovery Motorhome on a Freightliner frame, Its been sitting for a few years, It has gone in to the power down mode ( I Believe ) it will not go over 35-40 mph. I have new oil and oil filter, 1 new few fuel filter, ( remote fuel/water separator at rear of chassie ) can not find a second fuel filter.
What are the codes on a cat 3126?
Our Cat distributor used to ask what codes were flashing via the check engine light, but have since given me a pocket tec to use. Pages 58 thru 66 in the C7 operation manual (only one handy and identical to 3126E manual), list the procedure for retrieving the codes using the cruise control switches, what the codes are, and the consequences.
Where is the manual stop button on a cat 3126?
The red button on the right side of the cylinder is the manual stop, btw. Here’s how it looks like on the 3116. I guess it’s neither much different nor far from that placement also in the 3126, but I can’t be positive about that.
Is the cat 3126 engine a good engine?
That system is very similar to what’s on the 7.3L Powerstroke. They are both pretty reliable and make good power (up to 330 h.p.).
What happens when your coolant temperature sensor is bad?
The engine is very sensitive to wrong air-fuel mixtures at idle and this is a condition when you might notice that something is wrong with your engine coolant temperature sensor. The engine coolant temperature sensor can have a hard impact on the air-fuel mixture. A bad air-fuel mixture can also cause the engine performance to drop drastically.
Is there any warranty on Cat 3126 cranks?
The diagrams I have seen don’t look exactly like my configuration. No warranty! Any thoughts?
Why is my coolant temp sensor not working?
If you connect the two wires together after unplugging the sensor, and active code for coolant temp. sensor volts low ( short circuit) should pop up. If this does not happen, there is a wiring or ecm problem.
Where is the coolant temp sensor on the head?
There are quite a few other sensors on the head.. but only 1 coolant temp sensor that runs to the ecm. ther is a sensor on the coolant resevor and one that is on the passenger side of the engine do you remember wher the coolant sensors are located thanks
Is the coolant temp sensor passive or active?
There will be 1 sensor that provides the signal to the ecm, and 1 gauge sender for the gauge. I’ve thrown out all of my Cat materials, so I’ll have to go by memory. I believe the coolant temp sensor is a passive ( 2 wire ) sensor.
How much does it cost to replace a coolant temperature sensor?
Unscrew the ECT sensor in an anticlockwise direction, similar to how a spark plug is removed. Install the new sensor and reconnect the connector cable. The average replacement cost of the Coolant Temperature Sensor is between $100 and $220. The labour cost is between $40 and $140 while the part itself costs between $50 and $80.
