What should the Doc outlet temp be on a truck?
DOC outlet temp, or temp #2, should be 1000-1200 degrees. DPF outlet temp should be 950 to 1200. In a healthy system, the engine injects fuel into the exhaust during a regen that the DOC burns to create the heat. The heat is used to BAKE down the collected soot in the DPF.
What should the DPF outlet temp be during a Regen?
During a proper regen, DOC inlet temp, or temp #1, should be about 550-600.
What does code 1975 Mean on exhaust temp sensor?
So, if its not showing code 1975 (unverified) it should just be a bad sensor? I find SPN 3245 which is “suspect parameter number”. 3245 is for the #3 exhaust temp sensor. There are about 5 or 6 different faults though. The SPN is usually accompanied by a FMI number, which is “failure mode indicator”, or basically how it is faulty.
What is code 62 on Caterpillar C7 engine?
Code 62 Whenever the Electronic Control Module ( ECM ) detects an active fault or condition the lamp will flash at five second intervals. If the lamp turns on and if the lamp stays on after initial startup, the ECM has detected a system problem. The Diagnostic lamp is also used for the idle Shutdown timer.

What are the different types of cat codes?
Cat Codes fall into 3 categories. Active Diagnostic Codes – the fault causing the Code is present. The fault has to be fixed before the Code can be erased (see below). Logged Diagnostic Codes – The fault causing the Code was there once but is no longer there now. Logged Codes can be erased simply by a technician using Cat ET.

Where is the Diagnostic Code stored on a Caterpillar engine?
Caterpillar Electronic Engines have self diagnostic capability. When the system detects a problem, the CHECK ENGINE/DIAGNOSTIC (YELLOW) lamp activates. In most cases a diagnostic code will be stored in permanent memory within the ECM. The diagnostic code can be retrieved by using either of the following methods.

Can a FMI 13 code affect engine performance?
An FMI 13 Code may affect the performance of your engine, but without knowing if it is there or not it’s impossible to say for certain. The check engine light never did come on even with the bad sensor. Just had a code 34 when I scanned it with onboard scanner.
What are the fault codes for a caterpillar?

Why is my FMI 13 code not logged?
However your sensor fault may have caused what’s known as an FMI 13 Code. This Active Code means that a system requires calibration, after installing the new sensor in this case. Until the calibration (whatever it is) is performed the Code will not go to Logged.

What does a diagnostic code mean on a Caterpillar engine?
CAT Fault Codes | Caterpillar Engine Errors And Trouble Codes Cat Diagnostic codes are used by the electronic system in order to alert the operator that a problem exists. A diagnostic code also indicates the nature of the problem for you, and you can see what is the code meaning with CatFaultCodes.com service.
What causes an intermittent diagnostic code on a truck?
The most likely cause of an intermittent code is a faulty connection or damaged wiring. Next is a component failure such as a sensor or a switch. The least likely cause is the ECM. LOGGED diagnostic codes can be a valuable indicator for troubleshooting intermittent problems.
What is the engine code on a truck?
Just had a code 34 when I scanned it with onboard scanner. Truck had no power and hard start at times. Replaced RPM sensor (code 34) starts easy now but not sure if it has the power it should. Thought if I could erase code 34 and it popped back up again I would know I still have problems. Guess I will have to take it to Cat.
How can I erase a logged diagnostic code?
Logged Diagnostic Codes – The fault causing the Code was there once but is no longer there now. Logged Codes can be erased simply by a technician using Cat ET. Logged Events – these are Events that affect the health of the engine, such as low oil pressure or high coolant temperature.
What is a failure mode identifier ( FMI ) in cat?
A failure mode identifier (FMI) is a diagnostic code that informs the service personnel of the type of problem that has been detected within a circuit or system. CAT FMI Code List A module identifier (MID) is a diagnostic code that identifies the electronic control module that has diagnosed a fault.
How to check the active code on a caterpillar truck?
All ACTIVE codes may be viewed using a Caterpillar electronic service tool or by performing the following procedure. Turn the Cruise Control ON/OFF switch OFF. 2. Move the SET/RESUME switch to either position. Hold that position until the YELLOW lamp begins to flash.

How do you find a cat fault code?
Count the first sequence of flashes in order to determine the first digit of the diagnostic code. After a two second pause, the second sequence of flashes will identify the second digit of the diagnostic code. NOTE: Catfaultcodes.com indicates the potential effect on engine performance with ACTIVE fault codes.

What are the codes on a cat 3126?
The intake heater relay energizes when it is supposed to and I can feel the intake get a little warm to the touch after a couple of cycles so I believe it is probably ok. The cruise/rpm switch method revealed 2 codes. #39 and #38. I don’t have access to a code reader.
What kind of oil does a cat 3126 take?
By the way my engine in Serial# HEP 280486. I tapped into the high pressure oil galley and put a 4000 psi gage in. Had a helper crank the engine while I watched. The pressure started up kind of slow and then quickly headed toward max on the gage.
What are the symptoms of a bad transmission speed sensor?
Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Transmission Speed Sensor. 1 1. Harsh or Improper Shifting. Without a valid speed signal from these sensors, the PCM will not be able to correctly control the shifting of gears 2 2. Cruise Control Does Not Work. 3 3. Check Engine Light Comes On.
How does the engine speed and timing sensor work?
The ECM counts the time between pulses that is created by the sensor as the gear rotates in order to determine rpm. Under normal operation, the secondary engine speed/timing sensor is used to determine timing for starting purposes.
Which is the first sensor on the transmission shaft?
The first is known as the input shaft speed (ISS) sensor. As described, this sensor is used to monitor the speed of the transmission’s input shaft.

Why is cam sensor code 34 still active?
If after replacing the cam sensor code 34 is still active then you have not corrected the problem. Just because it showed a cam sensor code does not mean the cam sensor is bad, it means the cam sensor is bad, the circuit to the cam sensor is faulty , or the cam sensor is not in sync with the crank sensor if it has one of those as well.
Is it possible to reset engine code 34?
Truck had no power and hard start at times. Replaced RPM sensor (code 34) starts easy now but not sure if it has the power it should. Thought if I could erase code 34 and it popped back up again I would know I still have problems. Guess I will have to take it to Cat. So I could be speaking out of school, so if I am just ignore me.
