How long should I let my car sit before starting it?

After driving my car for as short as 15 minutes, I need to let it sit for 2 or more hours before it will start again. Any ideas what is causing this? The battery was replaced in August.

Why does my van quit when I start it?

Go to start the van and if fires up for about one second then quits. Try and try it will not start. Dealer at first said it was the fuel pump. Replaced it. Months later still doing the same thing. It like the security system is telling the car not to start. After I let the van sit (1/2 hour to overnight) the van starts right up.

Lately I have had this problem: Go to start the van and if fires up for about one second then quits. Try and try it will not start. Dealer at first said it was the fuel pump. Replaced it. Months later still doing the same thing.

Is it OK to let your car sit for 2 weeks?

Not for two weeks, no. Just let it sit. Running it for just a few minutes is worse than not running it at all. 2 weeks isn’t enough time to even bother prepping it for storage. Docnick July 6, 2016, 1:21am #3 Agree; 2 weeks is nothing. I have been on 2 week business trips and had my car sit at the airport for that long.

Is it possible that sitting two weeks causes a problem?

If sitting two weeks causes a problem, likely it needed a new battery anyway. I can’t think of anything else that would cause a problem, unless it also needed work. bscar July 6, 2016, 1:22am #5
