Can radiator fan affect AC?
Can radiator fan affect AC?
Yes, a broken radiator fan can cause the air conditiong to stop working. The AC system depends upon being able to dissipate heat into the engine coolant. You really need to have the fan replaced, or at least, have a diagnostic check to see what is causing the fan to stop working.
Why does the radiator fan not come on when the AC is on?
In order for the AC Condensor to do its job it must stay as cool as it can. As for the engine coolant temp sensor, if the coolant is not hot enough to make the fan come on, then there is no need for the fan yet and there is no problem.
How does the PCM turn on the radiator fan?
The PCM turns on the fan through either the high or low speed fan relay. The PCM provides a ground to the relay’s control circuit. To control radiator fan operation, the PCM looks at inputs from:? Engine coolant temperature? A/C pressure transducer (turbo only)? Ambient temperature? Vehicle speed?
Where does the cooling fan in the engine go?
The cooling fan in the engine compartment should turn on to pull air through the radiator and A/C condenser. A main cooling fan for the radiator. A second fan for the condenser.
How does a non turbo radiator fan work?
Non Turbo Fan Opertion: Radiator fan operation is control by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with inputs from the temperature of the coolant, which is sensed by the coolant temperature sensor, and vehicle speed which is measured by the vehicle speed sensor. The PCM turns on the fan through either the high or low speed fan relay.
Why does the radiator fan turn on when the AC is on?
The radiator fan and AC have nothing to do with each other. The radiator fan is on a thermal control and turns on when the temperature reaches a set point, it has nothing to do with the AC at all. If your car is at running temperature and the AC fan is not coming on (assuming it is not -20 degrees outside) then there are likely one of a few causes.
Can a convection fan be used to cool a radiator?
If it’s cold outside (but not so could that it would prevent using the A/C), natural convection should cool the radiator adequately. Well the short answer is yes. The A/C requires the fan to run as part of the heat exchange process. The A/C runs on a separate circuit and is triggered by A/C system.
When to turn on the engine cooling fan?
The Cooling Fan output is activated when Ignition is On and the Temp Sw terminal is grounded. ENGINE COOLING FAN CLUTCH POWER CENTER GROUND GROUND GROUND Note that the Trinary Switch will turn on the Radiator Cooling Fan by grounding the Power Center Temp Sw terminal as soon as the refrigerant pressure gets high enough.
When does the condenser fan come in with the AC on?
The condenser fan (if it has a dedicated fan) or the radiator fan most always comes in (with AC on) when the compressor discharge pressure (or, alternatively, the liquid line one; look for where a sensor or a switch is located on the high pressure line) rises over an operative threshold.
