Why is fuel leaking out of the throttle shaft?

Why is fuel leaking out of the throttle shaft?

The bottom line is that the fuel leaking out of the throttle shaft is probably due to the carburetor flooding. The solution is to get a carburetor kit and rebuild the carburetor and test the float. Now, don’t discount the throttle shaft being bad.

Is the throttle linkage to the injector pump permanent?

Through some creative, but possibly not permanent, washer and spacer installation I was able to get the throttle links reattached to the pump housing – and it works. The reattachment also seemed to significantly slow/stop the fuel leak. But again, don’t know if it’s a permanent solution.

Why is fuel leaking from top of injector pump?

I was getting fuel leaking from where the throttle linkage attached to the top of the injector pump. Presumably from where the linkages enter the top of the pump housing. In trying to take off the linkages to see what I could find, the bolt holding the linkages to the pump sheared off.

Is the throttle llinkage attached to the pump?

Bear in mind that the lever the throttle llinkage attached to is not the lever that operates the internals of the pump – if you look closely you’ll see there’s another lever underneath the larger main one, and a spring. My investigations never went further than that.

Why is the diesel pump leaking on my Land Rover?

Yesterday I saw the diesel pump, a Lucas CAV dps, was leaking on top where the lever enters. After this I have been looking on the WWW and found out it’s not really an inpossible job to do yourself.

Where is the throttle linkage to the injector pump?

The closeup pic shows dark deposits, like you may find with a graphite seal, around where the shaft enters the pump housing. That may be what you are indicating, on the housing wearing down… not sure. How may I reach thepumpguysc? thanks,

What to do if your carburetor is leaking fuel?

Trying to avoid fuel leaks with all the lines and fittings can cause severe anxiety. We apply Teflon tape to the lines at the fitting area. This allows tightening the fittings against the lines with minimal line movement. Care must be taken to keep the Teflon tape out of the carburetor. Don’t put any tape on the seat portion of the line at all.
