Can a bad O2 sensor cause a misfire?
Can a bad O2 sensor cause a misfire?
Suggestions I received ranged from switching or replacing ignition coils, checking the air intake for leaks, or cleaning the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor, to checking for ECM (Engine Control Module) problems, among many more. The possibility that it would be a bad ECM was a little unsettling, because of the potential cost of replacing it.
What happens when you put in New O2 sensors?
Put in the new O2 sensors, double check there isn’t any obvious problem like a missing wire or vacuum connection, and try again. It may take some time for the ECM to learn how to operate the engine with the new sensors. A little more patience with the new sensors may be needed.
What are the symptoms of a bad oxygen sensor?
Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Oxygen Sensor 1 Check Engine Light comes on The first line of defense is the Check Engine Light. 2 Bad gas mileage and rotten egg smell If the oxygen sensor is going bad, the fuel-delivery and fuel-combustion systems will be thrown off. 3 Rough engine idle and misfires
Why does my O2 sensor keep sputtering?
After a half hour of trying to get it working by doing this I decide to switch back to the old O2 sensors temporarily thinking I just got a bad new O2 sensor from the manufacturer. Only thing is after switch the old ones back on the car still sputtered like crazy for a while until it seemed to be running fine.
Can a faulty O2 sensor cause a misfire?
This may be potentially related to the mass air flow sensor or throttle position sensor. Initially, it may have been a faulty O2 sensor, but now since that has been replaced, that part of the system should work correctly…. While it is possible that the bulbs have gone out, it is more likely that one of the switches have gone out.

What kind of O2 sensor does pre99 have?
The pre99’s have the old 02 sensors which take much longer to kick in than the 99or newer trucks with the wideband or Air/Fuel ratio sensors, so your fine just look on the ODB reader to make sure the 02 sensor is properly swinging up and down but if you have no CEL Id look elsewhere.
