Last week I experienced a jolt before what felt like losing all power (although the engine did not stall immediately, only until revs had dropped too low to sustain itself, and no other systems dependent on power seemed to die), so I ruled out a battery issue. After 5-10 minutes of turning over it decided to start up again.

But a no start, no crank, no click condition can be far more involved than that. In the old days, power flowed through the ignition switch and down to the starter solenoid. Not anymore.

The Hyundai Santa Fe drives and handles well, overall, but I had three terrifying incidents on the first day driving the car to work in rush hour traffic. The Hyundai just stalled, always when moving to a red light and/or in stop and go traffic. Seems consistent with engaging the brake pedal to slow down or stop.
