Why does my gas tank shut off before it is full?
If it hangs straight down it will cutoff before it is full. If it is turned counter clockwise at all it will shut off almost immediately. Still a very annoying problem; i don’t see how they could have possibly screwed up something so simple, but at least now I think I have a way to fill up the tank.
Is there a problem with filling up the gas tank?
I found another thread similar to this from 2016: http://www.dodgedurango.net/forums/durango-discussions-2014/23368-cant-fill-up-gas-tank.html my symptoms are as severe as one of the poster’s in that thread. If fillup 4 is as bad as the last fillup then I’m going to have to take it to the dealership.

It took about 20-30 attempts with twisting the pump handle, adjusting the nozzle, and adjusting the flow to finally get the pump to actually fill the tank. At this point I’ve decided it has to be the capless system causing some kind of back pressure that triggers the pump to shut off.
