Not open for further replies. I have a 2002 dodge Durango with a 4.7 with low oil pressure once it gets warm.. any ideas on how to solve would be great thanks for any help any one can give me. The first thing I would do is to replace the sending unit.

Hello, I am suddenly, but briefly, losing oil pressure in my dodge ram pickup. As I am coming to a stop while driving, the oil pressure gauge suddenly falls down to 0, then the check gauge light comes on, but only for about 2 seconds before it rises sharply back to where it is supposed to be.

To do the bearings, you need to pull the engine, these motors don’t have main caps like a chevy 350 or the older 4.7l they have a girdle witch is most of the bottom of the engine.

Personally, I do not like engine cleaners because they thin the oil out, the chemicals are hard on the bearing and gaskets, and can break stuff loose way too fast. The last thing you need is a big glob to block an oil passage or the pickup screen. Then you have zero pressure going to some part of the engine or zero oil getting though the screen.
