Can you replace a caliper with a 10mm bolt?

But don’t even remove them, the pads can be replaced with the bracket still on the caliper. So remove the two 18mm bolts and remove the complete caliper/bracket as an assembly. A 10mm does not work.

How big is guide pin on escape caliper?

Just the way the pins are constructed with the plastic cups protecting, and the raised collar above the pin made it hard to figure the size. Some replacement guide pins are 11mm and after three brake jobs they’ve probably been changed. But don’t even remove them, the pads can be replaced with the bracket still on the caliper.

How big are caliper bushing pins on a jeep?

The Caliper bushing pins are allen head sockets, and use a proprietary size, none of the common sizes fit properly, but I was able to remove and install them using a 7/16″ allen key, even though it was loose in the socket I was able to get it done without damage. The next higher size, metric or standard was too big and wouldn’t fit.

What do I need to replace front brakes?

New rotors and ceramic pads. Did not need to remove the spindle nut to replace the rotor. Just the caliper bracket. (18mm hex ). Bought the escape used 102000 and brakes looked recently done but stopping over 45 mph made the wheel and whole vehicle shake. After replacing with ceramic pads it fixed that problem. Looks like semi metallic were used.

How big are the bolts for front brakes?

Used a 12 point 16mm socket for the front bracket bolts, and a T… 50 (i think) torx for the front caliper pins. Going to need to get some new hardware next time. Gonna see if there are “normal” aftermarket replacements.

How to get caliper bolts out of Ford Focus?

Thought I’d spend a quick 20 minutes changing the brake pads on ‘er indoors focus today! 2hrs later, have had to give up in disgust. First problem was having every alum key size apart from the one I needed (7mm I’ve deduced). When I got something to fit, the caliper bolts are totally seized.

How big is an allen wrench for a caliper?

They is a raised edge above the Allen sockets. Real hard to get to or see. A 3/8’s sloppy, a 10mm sloppy, 12mm & 1/2in no fit. There 1/2 sizes? Another special “Ford Tool”? Sears and Napa have up to 3/8’s “Caliper bits” try the 9mm. Bigger then a 10mm. Which is the bigest size they sell. A 12mm is way too big. Went thru all the mm and SAE sizes.

What’s the best way to remove an allen key?

You can also try using Torx bits or sockets and seeing if they’re just the right amount larger or smaller. Then you heat the fastener cherry red with a MAPP gas or oxy-acetylene torch, hammer the right-sized Allen-key socket into the bolt hole (or the right-sized socket around the bolt head), and try again with the impact wrench.
