How do I know if my truck is in regeneration?
How do I know if my truck is in regeneration?
Not all trucks will tell you that Regen is occurring or not. The only true way is with a EGT gage and the pyro mounted in the exhaust manifold. This monitors the EGT and you can tell as the temp rises.
Can a Dodge Ram go into active Regen?
Unfortunatly these trucks dont always go into active regen like they should, the filters become full and clogged and the truck goes into limp mode, making you go slowly to the dealership for a $1000-$1500 replacement filter Any more questions hit me! Ah… that makes sense.
What makes a Cummins engine go into regeneration?
Unlike powerstroke and duramax, which use a DEF system, cummins dont need any extra fluid for their systems. The filter takes the particulate out of the exhaust. As the filter fills up with particulate it needs to go into regeneration before it gets full.
What kind of filter does a Dodge Ram use?
Dodge trucks use a diesel particulate filter (DPF) on their diesel trucks. Unlike powerstroke and duramax, which use a DEF system, cummins dont need any extra fluid for their systems. The filter takes the particulate out of the exhaust. As the filter fills up with particulate it needs to go into regeneration before it gets full.
Is there a way to regenerate a diesel truck?
DO NOT IGNORE IT OR PUT IT OFF! Passively, regeneration can be done through normal exhaust system heat by driving at highway speeds for a half hour or so; if you’re making a long road trip, this is very convenient, because the truck will regenerate automatically after the light goes on.
What’s the Regen speed for a Ram 3500?
So my new RAM 3500 is my first ever diesel truck. So all I know about the regen process, I have heard from friends or read online. I was under the impression that the trucks had to maintain at least 50 mph during the regen process to be functional.

Why does my Ram truck Regen so often?
My assumption is this happens because of a passive regeneration the truck is constantly regenerating through the higher temperatures of higher speed driving as well as the characteristics of the load if you have one. Now my Chevys and fords would usually only go through regeneration process every so often.
