Why is the steering wheel not working on my Dodge Ram?
I noticed at night, the lights on both sides of the controls were going on and off as I turned the wheel. Thought I was going crazy. Horn, radio controls on both sides, instrument cluster buttons, heated steering wheel and voice control don’t work. Oddly enough the cruise controls still work.
Are there any steering wheel switches that work?
The right front side of steering wheel switches (cruise control) work fine. I checked the fuse associated with the horn (#42) and it is fine. Any other ideas?

It started after the dealer corrected the open recalls on my truck. When the controls stop working on the steering wheel, my power steering also becomes sluggish. The only controls that work on my steering wheel is the cruise controls. Has anyone for sure identified the corrective action on this?
Where does the radio control go on a steering wheel?
The wires that control the radio from the steering go to the Body Control Module (BCM), not directly to the radio. The BCM sends data over the serial bus to the radio. You can’t post conmments that contain an email address. If this is the lights for the switches in the steering wheel, these are LED’s.

Why is my steering wheel fuse not working?
There is probably a wiring harness that is loose, probably in the steering wheel itself. Took it into the dealer today, paid $125 for a diagnostic and $125 for a “fix”. They pulled a code from the ‘lin bus’? (there were no indications of anything on the evic). That resulted in them replacing fuse 49, a 10 amp fuse for the ICS/HVAC.

If so, then it is possible that your steering switch is broken. You could try scanning for codes, just incase. Yes, we could change the stations from the steering wheel. And the volume controls on the steering wheel still work. In fact only this one feature has stopped working. Called Nissan and will be taking the car in for repair.
