It is my DD and I tow a 5th wheel toyhauler that weighs just under 15k loaded. About 5-6 weeks ago I was towing home from Disney, Ok and my truck said Service DEF system, see dealer, and started counting down from 200 miles until limp mode. I got home with less than 40 miles to go.
Why do you only put 2 gallons in service DEF system?
I guessing the only reason they mention to only put in 2 gallons when the gauge is at half full is your tank only holds 5 gallons. They CTD and EcoD probably use the same sending/level assembly and I’ve pumped in 6 gallons at once. FCA probably doesn’t want you to over fill the tank as the DEF needs room to expand when it freezes.
Where can I reset the service Def code?
A lot of the error codes dealing with the DEF, DPF, and SCR are usually only resettable via the dealer. I don’t know if AlphaOBD would be able to reset the codes.

Wondering what everyone is getting on your DEF tanks. My first 588 miles to go indication light came on at around 3200 miles on the tank. Put a full 5 gallons in it. With a 7 gallon tank I would think it would last longer than 3200 miles.

How many gallons of Def fluid per 100 miles?
With a 7 gallon tank I would think it would last longer than 3200 miles. I towed my bass boat for maybe 500 miles of that. You should use 1.25 – 1.5 gallons of def per gallon of diesel. if it gets 20 and only uses 1.25 def per 100, then 2000 miles/1.25gal def = 1600.
