2007 Lacrosse CXL both hoses were hot, I drained the system down below the hose level and disconnected the hoses at the engine. I rigged up two garden hoses one on each heater hose and tried flushing thru the inner one (at the block end) and drain out the outer (closer to the fender) and got very little out the discharge hose.
