What should the engine temp be in the desert?
What should the engine temp be in the desert?
Even driving it through the desert with outside temp over 105, the engine temp still stays close to 210. Check your coolant. Are you low on coolant? You may have a crack cylinder head worse case. My old Yukon had a crack head and temp raise to about 230. Coolant level would not stay full. No white smokes from my exhaust.
When is engine temperature, is it normal?
If I’m in the Summer (80degF+), the engine temps will get a little hotter, maybe 220degF with the A/C on… Sensors have a +/- of 2% or so… It also could be the temperature switch for your engine fans… Just a thought. Re: Engine temperature, is It normal?
What’s the normal engine temperature for a 5.3L?
Just a thought. Re: Engine temperature, is It normal? Just as more info…my 2010 5.3L stays dead on 210 at all times (10-70 degrees F ambient). 220F seems all right, 230 might be a little high. Re: Engine temperature, is It normal?
What should I do if my MerCruiser engine is too hot?
Usually, when first started, it is a good idea to watch the gauges and monitor the temp. Watch the temp gauge as the engine warms up. The temp will usually climb just a little above the normal operating temp and then it will drop down a little when the thermostat opens up. That is normal and it confirms that the therm is opening OK.
What causes the engine temp to fluctuate?
It suggests that a plugged heater hose or heater core can cause engine temp to fluctuate. Until the problem is solved, information like this could be the key to the solution. I agree, it was the fluctuating temp that caught my eye.

What’s the normal coolant temperature of an engine?
If you are driving slowly or stopped idling the fans keep enough air moving through your radiator to keep your engine cool. Engine cooling fans may engage at one speed or multiple speeds and may kick on anywhere between 180 and 220 degrees.
Why does my coolant go from 180 to 210?
Problem continues except now it goes from 180 swings up to 210, then back below 180, then to 180 and repeates this all the time regardless of how long I drive. Anyone have any other ideas? New engine, new radiator, new theromstat, new temp sender…what could it be? Have you bled the air out of the system? That sounds like it might be the problem.
