Does leaving high beams on drain battery?
High beams will not drain your battery while riding, or even idling. It may not be your battery – the harness to the key-switch is notorious for breaking at the clamp on the right side of the head-stock.
How long can your car lights stay on before battery dies?
You can leave the hazard lights on for about 4 to 5 hours before the battery is too weak to start the vehicle. If you have the headlights on as well you will only have 60 to 90 minutes until you won’t be able to start your car.
Why do the lights stay on after the ignition is shut off?
If so, try this: Turn the lights off before shutting off the ignition. If your lamps are staying on permanently after: 1) ignition shut-off, and then 2) light switch shut off, suspect something in the headlamp-off-delay feature. (This assumes that your vehicle is equipped with this feature.)

How do you turn off headlights when ignition is off?
My headlights on my 2001 Ford Explorer are now continuously on while the switch is off and the ignition is off with the keys out. The only way I can shut them off is by pulling the “Parklamps Relay and Main Light Switch” fuse. I unplugged both the main light switch and the automatic light sensor, but it didn’t work when I put the fuse back in.
How long can you Leave your car headlights on until the battery dies?
Just make the headlights NOT WORK if there’s no key. It also makes theft a bit tougher, to boot. My 8-year-old battery probably wouldn’t keep them lit for more than 2-3 hours. I’m thankful for the piercing beep that my car makes if I turn off the car and leave the lights on.
