Is the IAC in the throttle body?
Is the IAC in the throttle body?
Typically, the IAC valve is mounted on the throttle body, which is seen in the diagram. The engine’s computer controls the valve by sending voltage pulses to it. This causes the motor inside the IAC valve to move and direct airflow around the throttle plate to control idle speed.
Where is the IAC valve on a Dodge Ram?
When the hood is cool to the touch, open it and lock it in place with the hood prop. Look for the IAC valve, which you will find on the throttle body. The IAC valve is cylindrical, and there is an electrical connector coming out of it.
Where is the Idle Air Control ( IAC ) valve?
Ensure your ignition if OFF. Remove the connector to the IAC valve, located right below the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) on the left side of the throttle body as you are looking at it from the front of the car.
How does idle air control work on a Dodge Ram?
The IAC valve in your Dodge Ram monitors and regulates how much air enters your engine when you idle. Your car can stall if your IAC is unable to keep the right amount of air flowing into your engine.
What makes up the throttle body and idle air?
IAT – Intake Air Temperature – Measures the temperature of the air the engine is intaking. IAC – Idle air control – Controls the amount of air the engine is intaking while it is idling. Throttle body – Responsible for regulating flow of air into the engine as you press the gas pedal.
