Why does the a / C run continuously when the compressor is on? The compressor runs continuously as long as the A/C button is engaged. I believe there is plenty of refrigerant in the system based on the manifold gauge readings. I believe there is a clog in the system between the high pressure outlet of the compressor and the evaporator, most likely in the accumulator/drier or expansion valve.
