How can you tell a 700R4 from a 4L60E? You can't tell the difference between a 700R4 and a 4L60E by the oil pan as they are nearly the same. If the transmission has a large 18-pin electronic connector above the passenger side pan rail, it's a 4L60E, as seen here.
